Description
2021 Summer Harvest CSA
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is an innovative way to connect the consumer and grower, each making a commitment to the other. CSA members make a commitment to the farm at the beginning of the season by paying in advance for a portion of the farm’s products throughout the season. This guarantees the farm a market for its products, provides members weekly boxes of fresh food, and fosters responsible relationships between farmer, consumer, and the community where the food is grown.
Each week starting June 1st, we will provide a box of hyper-local fruits and vegetables harvested from our urban farm in Vancouver’s Olympic Village.
While the contents of each box will vary weekly as the season progresses, here is just a sample of what a box may contain this year:
carrots, turnips, radishes, lettuce, salad mix, spinach, arugula, collard greens, kale, chard, zucchini, peas, fennel, kohlrabi, cucumber, green onion, garlic, beans, and a variety of herbs.
Pickup– You will have the option to choose from a pickup day of Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, pending availability. Boxes will be available for pickup from your chosen location (our farm located in the Olympic Village (299 W 1st Ave) or the new Wednesday Downtown Farmers Market at šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtl’e7énḵ Square (formerly known as the Vancouver Art Gallery North Plaza).
Health and Food Safety
We believe that local products grown here in Vancouver are healthier and safer than those being shipped in from elsewhere and handled by many people. We also know that under current circumstances farmers must act with extreme caution and care. We are working with new protocols for handling and distributing our food, following safe physical distancing and disinfecting standards throughout the season. Although we have endeavored to eliminate plastic bags, with the current health crisis we have no choice but to use plastic bags for any items that cannot be peeled or cooked. All packaging and preparing of boxes is done in a sanitary environment using food safe protocols with disposable gloves, and practicing physical distancing. All staff will be screened for health issues, and our pickup and online payment system allow food to get to you with minimal person to person contact.
